The Théâtre du Capitole becomes“National Opera in the region”

 

The Théâtre du Capitole obtains the “National Opera in the region” label, distinction that identifies an action cultural reference, in particular in terms of creation and production and implementation distribution to the largest. This label, which was not awarded for 20 years, emphasizes the place peculiar to which the Theater occupies of the Capitol among the scenes French and European lyrics. It distinguishes theaters whose project is of general interest in terms of creation, production and broadcast works within the network lyrical, musical and choreographic. Carrying out an ambitious artistic and cultural project open to all, the Théâtre du Capitole brings together a choir of 45 choristers, a master's degree and a ballet of 35 dancers and welcomes in its pit the Orchester national du Capitole for his lyrical and choreographic productions. It is also one of the last opera houses in France to endow sets, costumes and wigs workshops and leads a cycle of educational and cultural actions in the direction of all audiences. This label comes during an already well-started season: it opened with the entry into the repertoire of Amilcare Ponchielli's Gioconda, then the Capitol Ballet met with immense success with the creation of Toulouse Lautrec. More recently, the new production of Alban Berg's Wozzeck directed by Michel Fau, acclaimed by the public and the critics, brought together leading French and international lyrical artists. On the stage of  the Théâtre du Capitole will soon present a new production of The Magic Flute in which the public will be able to discover or rediscover many young singers. Two new productions produced in co-produced with the national network, and produced in the workshops of the Théâtre du Capitole. This renewable label is awarded to the Théâtre du Capitole as “National opera in the region” for five years. Supported financially by Toulouse Métropole, the Toulouse lyrical and choreographic house is placed under the direction of Christophe Ghristi and Claire Roserot de Melin.
