IL TROVATORE AT THE ICELANDIC OPERA IN FALL 2012‏

The Icelandic Opera will stage Giuseppe Verdi‘s Il trovatore this Fall, with a premiere at Harpa Concert Hall on October 20th. In leading roles are Johann Valdimarsson as Manrico, Auður Gunnarsdóttir as Leonora, Alina Dubik / Elsa Waage as Azucena and Icelandic baritone Tómas Tómasson as Il conte di Luna. Tómas will sing the role in the first  three performances; after which he will make his debut at La Scala as Telramund in Lohengrin, with Daniel Barenboim as conductor. Anooshah Golesorkhi will at that point take the role of di Luna. Viðar Gunnarsson will sing the role of Ferrando. American conductor Carol I. Crawford conducts Il trovatore, director will be Halldór E. Laxness, Gretar Reynisson designs sets and costumes are designed by Þórunn María Jónsdóttir. The Icelandic Opera Choir and Orchestra will furthermore participate in the production.A total of six performances of Il trovatore will take place in Harpa; on Saturday October 20th  (premiere), Friday October 26th, Saturday October 27th, Sunday November 4th, Saturday November 10th and Saturday November 17th. All performances start at 8 pm. General ticket price is ISK 8.000.
