Pablo Heras-Casado named Guest Principal Conductor at Teatro Real, Madrid

The Spanish conductor will hold this position for the next three seasons (15/16 - 17/18) working together with the Musical Director at the Teatro Real, Ivor Bolton, to artistic developing the resident Choir and Orchestra. The Teatro Real offered him the position due to his talent as an artist, his reputation and the international renown of the Spanish conductor. Pablo Heras-Casado, named Conductor of the Year 2014 by the American magazine Musical America and titular conductor at the Orchestra of St. Luke’s in New York, has conducted some of the most prestigious symphonic orchestras and chamber groups in the world. His career covers great symphonic works and operatic pieces, from historical pieces to contemporary music. At the Teatro Real, Pablo Heras-Casado conducted an acclaimed production of The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonnyby (September-October 2010) and also conducted Il Postino by Daniel Catán (July 2013). During the current season he will conduct the Teatro Real’s world premiere of El Público, by Mauricio Sotelo (February-March 2015), and War Requiem by Benjamin Britten (12-14 March).
